this weekend.

We spent the weekend just gone in Melbourne and at home, with the weight of the Gippsland bush fires on our mind. Whilst our town has never been in immediate danger (and we pray it never will), there are many of our community that have been affected, relief centres were set up at our church and the local sports stadium and we were on high alert. We awoke on Friday to an eerie yellow haze, a blood stained sun, ash and burnt leaves covering our cars and front lawn. After some deliberation, we decided we would still head to Melbourne to cash in on my 1st wedding anniversary present from husbando (Gold Class tickets!), have dinner with friends of ours and then head to their engagement party on Saturday afternoon.

A detour past Ikea on the way home from Melbourne resulted in the purchase of a Billy bookcase for our new house. Somehow we managed to squeeze it in my Getz, the bookcase pretty much took up the entire length of my little car which certainly made for an interesting drive home. We spent Sunday doing final paint touch up's on the new cupboard, finally filling it, assembling Billy and watching the tennis with friends. Perfecto.

Whilst the imminent threat of fire on local communities has been reduced considerably over the last few days (thanks of course, to the hard work and commitment of our dedicated CFA volunteers and Mother Nature), Thursday is anticipated to be a difficult day again with temperatures in the mid to high thirties predicted.
