up, up, and away | the first weekend of spring

the first weekend of Spring could not have been better in our world.

I bought Derek a voucher for a flying lesson for our first wedding anniversary back in June and after one postponement due to nasty weather conditions, we were finally booked in again for Saturday - the first day of Spring. With clear blue skies and a mild day forecast we knew we were in for better luck. After a confirmation phone call early in the a-m, we headed out to the air field just shy of 10am. We got out of the car and all we could see for miles was blue, blue and more blue, score! After a pre-flight briefing with the wonderful Tony, Derek headed out to the plane to get familiarised before his scheduled 45-minute flight. I took residence in a seat on the air field, snapped away on my camera and soaked up the beautiful vitamin d.

After the official post-flight debrief, we headed out for brunch for our own debrief, and it was de-lish.

That night we ate pizza, grain waves and chocolate ripple cake all in celebration of my rather fabulous brother-in-laws birthday.

After celebrating father's day cafe style at church Sunday morning, we finished off our glorious start to the sunshine season celebrating father's day for my incredibly kind, loving, thoughtful and considerate father-in-law over a delicious roast dinner and a game of scrabble.

How was your first weekend of spring?
